How long does a tourist visa last someone who wishes to travel almost all parts of china?

If they wish to stay a full year or more without assistance from any business or school how would they come about doing so? Is a temporary residency available for someone wishing to stay in china a long period without help from schools or business?

There are single-entry, double-entry and six-month/one year multiple entries L types. If you plan to stay in China for long, you may apply for the six-month or one year multiple entries. It allows to stay six months or one year. However, you need to exit China a few times. And it's difficult to acquire it if you don't have previous records to visit China before.
