About:How to Apply for a China Visa

Chronic Hepatitis B Carrier

Greetings. I am an American and just accepted a job teaching at an international school in China. It is a two year contract and I am worried about whether or not my wife will be able to join me. She is from the Philippines and is a chronic hepatitis b carrier. The school told us she can apply for an S1 visa, but this includes a medical check. Will her virus matter since she will not be working?

If she is just the carrier and the virus is not contagious, then she won't have any problem.

Is it a definite "no" if she is contagious?

I am afraid she might be refused if she is contagious. According to the related rule, those who have contagious illnesses won't be allowed to enter China.
