I have some mild chronic obstructive lung disease. What months is smog most likely in Beijing?

I do not normally require any medication for my mild emphysema. But I cough a great amount when exposed to air pollution and it affects the long term condition of my lungs and health. I want to choose a month when smog is least likely to be a problem for people with sensitive lungs (to spend a few days touring Beijing). Thank you for giving me as much information as possible about the smog occurrence in Beijing.

Harris, it usually happens in Winter and early Spring time, especially from January to March.

Keep in mind this is all relative. Smog is always present in Beijing. Its just worse at certain times.
