About:China Customs Declaration

Sending personal items to China

I am moving to China and would like to send a few boxes (18"x18"x16") via USPS of personal items to my work before I arrive. I will be sending clothes, shoes, etc..., nothing electronic or banned in China. Each box will be valued around $3500. Do I need to declare these items, will I have to pay customs? Thank you for your help.

They may not be declared, but you need to pay tax. According to the regulations, id the value of each package is no more than 1,000 RMB, it is tax free. For the extra value, you need to pay tax.
