i was wondering what would be the best way to get to the temple of heaven from the palace

or is taxi the only way to get there directly? Also how long and roughly how much would the ride be? if it helps i plan on traveling mid December.Thanks for your help in advance....

No direct bus is available. Except taxi, you are recommended to travel by metro. I suggest you walk from the Palace Museum to Tianamen East metro station to take subway line 1 to Dongdan, where transfer to line 5 to get off Tiantan Dongmen. Then you can easily walk to the destination. the whole trip takes around 20min and the metro fare is CNY2.
