About:Beijing Travel

I will arrive in Beijing July 22nd and catch the train to Mongolia morning of 23rd July.

I am Australian. Do I need a visa or is this 72hr transit?

No, this case is not entitled to the 72h free-visa transit, which is only for passengers who arrive and leave by air! Therefore, you will need a visa.
