About:Chinese Consulate in New York

I am an Citizen. My Wife Citizen PRC, arrived here i USA on a Visa on March 24, 2014.

My Wifes Mother informed us she needs papers from us to confirm to the Government of PRC that she is living here in USA. Mother says she needs a copy of Passport, and papers signed by Chinese Consulal General in USA confirming this. Do we need to appear in person to the Consulat Generals Office in New York or can we get this mater completed through a travel agent, and what documents do we need to provide?

Oliver, I think you should contact the consulate and see if they can provide the paper your mother-in-law asks for. According to what I know, the consulate can do authentication and notarization. They ask the applicants to show up when they deal with some cases. For some cases, the applicants can assign someone else to do on their behalf. But they have to write authorization letters.
