About:Chinese Embassy in U.S.A.

Chinese visa for my under age son with father born and China

I am an American, my son father was born in China - I was not and am not married to the Child father. I was also told by the one of the Travel agent that I will need to go to China consulate to apply for Travel Certificate and I will need the father Citizen status and paper. What so I do? I have no contact with the father and I have sole custody of my son.

Hi, do you mean you and your son will need travel to China? and your child needs to get a Chinese travel document instead of Chinese visa?

Yes, that is what I was told by the Travel agent who was preparing the paper for us when we were trying to get L type for visit. Because my son father was born in PRC and if the father was not naturalized or had a green ID the time my son was born then PRC does not recognize the Child as US citizen. I was told that if I do not get some kind of doc to prove father's citizen status from the father, my son can never go to China for visit. Even if I were to go in person to the consular, I will need a father doc to get L type. What do I do? I have already paid for the trip.
