My Name is Sue, I need to know if my son would need a visa for a holiday trip to China with his Chinese Friend.

They will be staying with her family. What are the requirements and fees. I see that you don't need one if you go for less than 30 days. Will this apply to him?

No, you son needs to apply for a tourist L for this trip. Invitation letter from the Chinese friend is required if he will stay with her family. Round-trip ticket is required as well.
