About:China Visa Entries / Validity / Duration of Stay

I will be traveling to Hong Kong with a transfer in Shanghai and then from Hong Kong to Beijing.

Should I get a double entry since I will be going through customs in Shanghai? Or is it safe to assume they will understand that the Visa is for my later entry to Beijing and I am just transiting?

Hi, a single entry is enough. You can transit freely in Shanghai for a stay no more than 72 hours. You can inform your airline about this so that you will be issued a transit permit on arrival.
