Double entry to Guangzhou

I am flying from Canada to Guangzhou with an one-time entry visa. But I will be going to Taiwan before flying back to Canada. In between my flight from Taiwan to Canada, I have a 24 hour stop over in Guangzhou. Would I be able to leave the airport with the 72 hour free period?
