registration with police

Hi there,I will be arriving to Guangzhou on sunday morning and leaving monday night, I am staying with my friends. My friends have advised me that there local police station is closed on sundays. Is that ok for me to register with them on monday or what should I do? Thank youLilia

You can register with the police station on Monday. But it should better be done within 24 hours. I don't think the police station will be closed on sunday.

It is closed on sunday, and i won't be able to do that within 24 hours as I would be arriving at 6am. Do I must register in local police station or can I go to a different area police station in this instance?

If you will stay with your friends at their place, then you have to register with the police station which holdss jurisdiction of their residence. But if you will stay in a hotel, the registration with a hotel is ok, becauce the hotel will report it to the police later. As I know, you have to pay fine when you leave if you fail to register within 24 hours. BTW, you should also be informed that nothing is required if your total stay in China is less than 24 hours.
