About:China Visa Application in USA

Do I need to apply for a visa in person?

I need to apply for a tourist L for a trip to Beijing in July. I see that I need to send application to a consulate in Chicago. Do I need to apply in person? I live in Minnesota.

You can apply either in person or by someone else/travel agent entrusted.
