When she checks out the school, can she directly study there without changing her L to a student X?

We plan on bringing our daughter to china for language studies for 6 to 8 weeks. Right now we are still checking the school where she can study. Can we apply for an L tourist for her for 60 or 90 days? By the way, she is holding a Philippine passport but has been to china numerous times. Thanks
