About:Baggage Allowance for Chinese Domestic Flights

Can I take food for a medically indicated diet into China?

I not only have a wheat intolerance but histamine intolerance issues. I need to take freeze dried meat, freeze dried fruit, and freeze vegetables with me. It comes in aluminum cans or mylar pouches but I will repackage it into zip lock plastic bags. There will be several bags as I will be in China for 17 days. Will this be allowed?

Vicki, I think you can't bring freeze dried meat into PRC because of the new regulations. Raw or cooked meat, fresh vegetables and fruits are forbidden to enter China too. But it doesn't specify whether dried fruit and vegetables are forbidden or not.

I think you can bring these food products together doctor's medical certificate that clarifies that you are alergic to wheat and histamine. When you arrive, go through the red channel and declare them to the customs and show the medical certificate to them. The good result is that they let you go. If they don't, your food will be taken away and disposed. But you won't be fined. If you don't declare these food products, you might have problem in entering China.
