About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit FAQ

Back to shanghai airport for less than 12 hours.

Myself and my partner (Uk passports) are both traveling to shanghai from the 26th of april until the 10th of may. Flight from london to shanghai and shanghai to London.

We are staying with my friends in shanghai however on the 5th of Yay we fly to krabi in thailand returning to shanghai on the 10th of May less than 12 hours before our flight back to london. For this second entry into china/shanghai can we use the 72 hour free transit or do we need to apply for multiple entry tourist visa?

we will arrive in shanghai from thailand at 00:30am and depart at 11:40am. Due to the time constraints we would not be able to authorise the permit at a police station, we had intended to stay in the airport during this time. Is this possible?

yes, it is ok. You don't need to register yourself to the police station for such a short transit.
