About:China Visa Application Procedure and Fee

applying for a chinese visa while in melbourne with US and UK passports

my family will be taking a year-long around-the-world trip. we live in the US. i have a US passport. my husband and children have UK passports. we will be in australia for 2-3 months before we head to china in march 2015. can we apply for visas from melbourne? (if we apply from the US it will be nearly 10 months before we would be entering china). thanks!

can anyone confirm lance's answer? I'm getting the impression that it is only possible to apply in Melbourne (or anywhere else in Australia) if you hold a residence permit ... I'm looking for an answer to this question myself.
