single or multiple entry?

Hello, I am a US citizen planning to visit China for the 1st time. I will have a definite arrival and return date along with a hotel (I plan to stay for a week). I may return for a 2nd or 3rd time within the year, but have no definite dates scheduled. Can I apply for a multiple entry visa? Thanks

I am afraid not. Actually it is very difficult to get a multiple one if you visit for the first time.
