what type of visa should ti be applying for to do this?

I am travelling from Australia to Mainland China, doing a 10 day tour finishing in Shanghai.  I am then flying to Hong Kong for 3 days and starting another tour that goes back to mainland China finishing in Beijing.

You need to apply for a double entry L type for your two visits in mainland China. But someone says it's difficult for those who haven't been in PRC before to acquire the double entry one.
