flying out of Shenzhen on a 5 day voa?

I arrived in Shenzhen via Hong Kong's lo wu border crossing obtaining a 5 day voa in my australian passport. Is it possible for me to fly from Shenzhen to my next international destination or must I go back to hong kong first?
