About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit FAQ

So, in Dalian do I have to get this 72-hour Visa-free Transit?

First layover in Dalian for just over an hour, then Beijing for just over 7 hours. I do not plan to leave the airports in China at all unless I must in order to have a cigarette. I read somwhere that when making more than one stop in China on travel to a 3rd part country you must get this 72 hr free transit. If so, Where in the Dalian airport do i get this from?

Well, you should apply for a stay permit when you arrive at Dalian Airport. It's just a stamp on your passport.

So do I need to specifically ask for the permit? Shouldn't they know that I will need one? Do I just ask the immigration official when he checks my passport at customs? Lastly, if I don't have to get off the plane in Dalian then will my travel be viewed as just one stop in China? Then I would not need the permit, correct?

Yes, stay permit is required if you transit via two ciyies. Please take it easy because you just need to show your passport and ticket for such short stopovers.
