About:How to Choose China Train Ticket Types?

Soft sleeper for 3

Hello
We are a group of 3 people, we are planing to take a night train from beijing to xi'an in a soft sleeper class. Will the 4th bed remain unoccupied or will it be sold. I mean will we find ourselves sleeping with a stranger ?
