What's the purpose of coming to PRC? The requirements vary according to which type you apply for. If you just come for traveling, a L type is needed. Your brother can send you an invitation letter and copies of his passport and visa/temporary resident permit and then you can file the application together with your passport, filled application form and a passport photo.
