What is the easiest (fastest) way to get from Beijing to Dali?

How long does it take to get from Kunming to DL by bus, and are there plenty of buses, or do you have to arrange ahead of time

Is it worth it to fly from Beijing to Kunming then to fly again from Kunming to DL?

It is fastest and easiest to fly there from Beijing and the plane will stopover for an hour in Kunming (MU5716 operated by China Eastern Airlines). The total duration for the plane shall be around 5 hours.

The direct long-distance bus between Kunming and DL takes 5-6 hours. There are frequent buses in operation from 07:20 to 20:00 every 10-20min, so no need to book in advance. You will easily get the ticket on the spot.

Generally speaking, it is not worth to fly from Beijing to Kunming and the catch another flight to DL.
