tip for travel agent?

I will travel to China next month with my family, not as part of a tour. My original plan was to have an associate make our arrangements and be our guide in Beijing. He has made all of our in-China arrangements, but I just learned he will be serving other customers during our Beijing leg. He has invited us to his house for dinner one night. My question: Do I need to tip him for his services as a travel agent? That seems awkward because the only time we will meet face-to-face is when I am a guest in his home.

I don't think you need to tip him for his help. But small gifts are ok if he invites you for dinner.
