About:Shanghai Hongqiao Airport

36 hour visit in shanghai

I am visiting a friend and will be in SH for 36 hours. I am flying in to SHA airport but flying out of PVG. It is 36 hours in the same city, but different airports? what should I do for the free transit visa?

I can see that you are from the USA, so do you hold the American passport? If so, you can put forward your request for transit to your airline in advance, so that the airline can declare this to the Immigration Inspection prior to your visit. You will be granted a transit permit at the airport if you meet all requirements. With the transit permit, you can get out of the airport to transfer to the other airport in SH.
