Trip from Wuhan to Wudangshan and Shennongia

I seek advice on how I can visit Wudangshan and Shennongia from Wuhan. I plan to fly from Los Angeles to Wuhan via Hong Kong in later part of May. As a retired man, I travel frequently to China and other parts of the world, with groups at times. But, I enjoy travlling alone so that I can enjoy the scenery, good food, and make friends along the way. I do not care much about the Three Gorges cruise as I have been a passenger many times. If I go from Wuhan to Wudangshan and then Shennongia, can I go to Chongqing from Shennongia easily without going to Yichong?

I think you mean the Shennongjia, right?
If so, as I know, there is direct bus from Wudangshan Toursim Center, you can find the direct buses for Shennongjia at 08:00 and 14:00 everyday.
Currently, there is no direct bus from Shennongjia to Chongqing, because the direct road is under construction. You may still need to make a transfer at Yichang, as I know.

Itinerary from Wuhan to Chongqing via Wudangshan and Shennongia

Thank Jessica for info. Does following work: D1 - Wuhan to Wudangshen by train (which town/station I should get off) ; D2&3 Wudangshen; D4 To Shennongia; D5 Shennongia and to Yichong in PM; D6 Yichong to Chongqing ( by air ? Or train? Do not want to cruise up the river). Accommodation up Wudangshen near summit and at Shennongia? Names of travel agencies that could help? BTW, I will go to Brazil, Argentina, Chile, and Peru day after tomorrow, and will be back in mid-March. By then, I have to book my flights to and from L.A., etc.. Any kind suggestions will be appreciated.

There are six trains between the two places, four trains from Wuchang Railway Station and two from Hankou Railway Station and you just need to get off the train from Wudangshan Railway Station.
From Yichang to Chonqing, you can take the trains. As I know, there are some trains at night and reach Chongqing in the next morning. So you can took those trains.
I only know the Jinding Hotel in the scenic spot, but I am sorry that I am not very clear about where to book the hotels. For Shennongjia, the Huiyuan International Hotel is a good one.
