About:Three Gorges Dam

How can one visit the Shennong Stream? Are the hydrofoils still operating? Thank you.

I will be visiting Chongqing and surrounds in mid May 2015. I plan to visit the Shennong Stream area. Can one do that by public transport from Yichang? Are the hydrofoils still operating? Is one full day possible for the trip?
Thank you.

Helen, I searched on the internet and found that hydrofoils have been cancelled in December, 2014. From Yichang, you can take long distance bus from Yichang Central Bus Station to Badong. It takes around 3 to 3.5 hours. It costs around CNY90 per person and departs every hour. After you reach Badong city, you need to take bus to the ferry terminal. There you can take ferry to visit Shennongxi.

However, I am afraid that you may not finish this trip just in one day. You may choose to stay for a night in Badong and then visit the stream next morning.
