About:China Visa Application in USA
HAVING US PASSPORT. DO I NEED VISA STAYING 4 DAY IN HONG KONG, BEFORE MY DESTINATION TO JAPAN?

No, you enjoy free entry to HK for a stay no more than 90 days. So, your passport is enough and ticket to Japan are enough.
