About:Chinese Paper-cut Museum

Stopping in Guangzhou for 17 hours and want to leave the airport

I am flying into Guangzhou airport and want to leave as dont want to be cooped up in airport for that long, I have New Zealand passport and my friend has Australian, can we enter on the 72 hours visa free thing?
