Is silk cocoons used for anything else than making silk fabrics?

Actually, the cocoons can be processed and made into a kind of traditional Chinese medicine, which can cure high blood pressure, fatty liver and hyperlipoidemia. Also it can stop bleeding. By the way, the cocoon is rich in proteins. So it can be made into a delicious dish too.
