About:Chinese Embassy in India

I am an Indian in UAE resident. would like to visit Beijing and Shanghai in march last week.

Do you issue Visa on arrival at Beijing?
What about for Shanghai ?
should I take it in advance or is it similar to Hongkong?

No, you need to apply for a Chinese visa in advance through Chinese embassy or consulate in UAE. A single entry one is enough for you to visit both Beijing and Shanghai.
