Accomodation near Guangdong University of Foreign studies?

Hi,
I am looking for an accomodation nearby Guangdong University of Foreign studies (Baiyun District). I was planning on staying in a hotel for 1-2 weeks and search meanwhile for an apartment where I can stay 6 months (1 bedroom). If you have any suggestions for apartment complexes or hotels where I can stay please let me know.
I was also wondering how far it is from the university to downton (via public transportation)?
