About:China Visa Entries / Validity / Duration of Stay

Duration of stay is questionable!

Hi,

So I entered China 1st August 2013, and have a 6 month visa, my flight out of the country is 28th January, which if you count 180 days from the next day after entry is correct but 181 days from day of entry. So I read this duration of stay counts from next day after entry on many info websites and booked my flight accordingly....

My boyfriend came to visit on a 30 day one, entered 19th December and went to airport to fly home 19th January (again 30 days counted from day after entry) however at the airport he was kept for 45 minutes because they were furious that it was his 31st day (from date of entry) and gave him a horrible warning, he almost missed his flight! He said he tried to explain the duration of stay counts from the next day after entry but they still said no its 31st day please leave with a warning! So, I am worried now, what do I do?

Airport was Pu Dong Shanghai, I will be going to the same terminal as he went to, therefore possibly meaning same treatment?

Thanks

Hi, this is the new defination of "duration of stay" from Sept. 1st 2013, which is counted from the next day after entry. But please recheck again, there is 31st in December. The 30 days means exactly 30 days, not a natural month.

Thanks for the reply James. They haven't updated the details at their website. They've actually got this twice on this site.
I'm going to complain if anything happens to me at the airport regarding my duration of stay as surely they should notify the holders, for what reason do they ask of your email address otherwise?

In reference to your statement of the change of definition, my flight is on the 28th which is the 181st day of stay of my 180 days allowed. However, I am to arrive at airport 27th, as my flight is 00.10 28th, so surely I should be going through immigration on the 27th which is my 180th day. Do you think this is ok?
Thanks

Don't worry, it is ok for you to do this, because you will pass through immigration before 24:00 on 27th.
