About:Lantau Island

Can I bring my GPS in China ?

Hello,
1- Can I bring my Australian GPS in China for travelling purpose? Will I be detained in customs if I did?
2- I want to see the TIAN TAN BUDDHA in Lantau Island, how do I get there from causeway bay ?

The GPS device can be taken into China and you need to declare it at the airport.
From Causeway Bay, you can take the HK Metro Island Line to Central Station. Then you can get out of the station and cross a pedestrain overpass to reach HK Station. Then you can chance to the Tung Chung Line to reach Tung Chung Station. Get out of the station from Exit B and you can see the Ngong Ping 360 cable car station, so you can take the cable car to reach the Ngong Ping Town and then walk to the Gaint Buddha easily.

The local public bus line 23 can take you from the Tung Chung to the Ngong Ping Town.

From the Hung Hom Station, you can take the West Rail Line to reach Mei Foo Station and then change to Tsuen Wan Line to get to Lai King Station. From Lai King Station, you can take the Tung Chung Line to reach Tung Chung Station. The public bus is also available from the Hung Hom Station to the Tung Chung. From Hung Hom, you can take the bus line A21 to Lantau Link Toll Plaza Station. There you can look for the buses signs to find the suitable buses for the Tung Chung.

The closest train station to the Ngong Ping on the Lantau is the Tung Chung Station.

Many thanks Miller for your advise. However....I'm scared of riding the cable car, is there another way of getting to Ngong Ping from Hung Hom Train Station? Is there a train station in Lantau close to Ngong Ping 360 ? Thanks. Daffodil
