How to get to Yuayang from Xishuangbanna?

From Xishuangbanna, there is no direct bus for YY. It is suggested to take direct bus from Jinghong South Bus Station to reach Yuanjiang first and the bus is at around 11:20. The bus will reach Yuanjiang at around 17:00 and then hire a local car to get to YY. If you do not want to hire a car, you may need to take the direct bus at 09:30 in the next morning.
From Yuanjiang to YY, it takes about two hours and a half.

Is there only one bus per day from Jinghong? We will arrive at Jinghong around 12 o'clock and we don't wanna miss the bus.

I am afraid that there is only one bus from Jinghong to Yuanjiang. The bus fare from Jinghong to Yuanjiang takes about 143RMB per person from Yuanjiang to YY, it is around 45RMB per person.
