long distance bus to putuoshan from shanghai

Question

You recommended speed boat and over night ferry to Putuoshan from Shanghai which senior don't like. I was told that we can take long distance bus to Putuoshan from Shanghai South Long Distance Terminal. Is it true ? Or you can recommend other mean of transport using the road.

Yes. You can also take bus to Putuoshan except for the overnight ferry. You can take bus at Shanghai South Bus Terminal or the bus station at Nanpu Bridge. The first one will take you to Putuo Bus Station at Shenjiamen, from where you will need to take public bus or taxi to Banshengdong pier. Then ride a boat to Putuoshan. The bus transfer takes about 5-6 hours.
