Criminal Record in Canada

I have a criminal record in Canada for two offences which were for theft and both were from about 10 years ago. Both offences were mistakes where I was nabbed by store security personnel in larges stores in Toronto. In both instances I had mistakenly walked out of the store (or over a so-called store boundary line) and was accused of stealing the item. One was a coat that i put on and then walked over the store line to find my girlfriend to ask her if she liked the jacket. My wallet was actually in my other jacket but I was still arrested by the jerks. The other instance was similar but another store at the opposite end of the Eaton Centre in Toronto. The first offence I pleased guilty to and paid a fine because I was told it was cheaper than paying for a lawyer. I didn't realize at the time this was a mistake. The second time I hired a cheap Paralegal and he convinced me to plead guilty to have a lesser sentence and not go to jail (because I had the other offence) So I pleaded guilty again and paid another fine plus had to go on probation for a year. The problem with all this is it just says theft under $5,000 on my criminal record and makes no mention that I was just dumb about store boundaries and not paying attention . My question is if i admit this on my application would I be denied? Also if I did not admit this is this another criminal offence for lying on the application should they find out I have a record? Thanks !

I read somewhere on the community of this website. There is a thread about the same issue. Many people choose to say "No" on the application form and finally get their visas. There are some people who also admit their previous records and apply successfully. It's up to you. But admitting your criminal records definitely increase the risk of being rejected.
