About:Tiger Leaping Gorge (Hutiao Gorge)

Tiger Leaping Gorge go and back from Lijiang

Hi everyone! Me and my girlfriend are going to TLG (if everything goes according to the plan) on the 18th. We lack time so we would like to do it in one day (if it is possible) seeing as much as we can from morning till late afternoon and go back to Lijiang.
Another possibility could be to stay one night there and come back the next early afternoon. What do you suggest to do and how? If you have any tips, feel free to give me, I will really appreciate.
We would also like to try rafting (never tried yet!!), but I am afraid that in January it will be hard.
How is the temperature there? Will it be freezing? And the trekking path... will it be hard in this season?
Thank you in advance for your answers and consideration!

If before departure for LJ, you have already enjoy the the ancient town and nearby places such as Shangri-la, you can spend one night in the gorge, otherwise, you can just spend almost one day in the gorge and then head for Shangri-la for a short visiting.
For rafting, I did not see it in the gorge, so I think it may be hard to make your dream come true.
The average temperature for LJ is around 12 to 25C in that time with sun, so it is not freezing. But it is still suggested to take thick coat. Because it will be cold at night and the rainy days.
Hope these information can help you.

Thank you very much for your information!
So you suggest to pass one day into the gorge and then go to Shangri-la and then come back the third day to LJ to the my flight back? directly from Shangri-la to LJ it should be 5h right?
So in this way I could do it or even in two days - leaving the morning to TLG than going to Shangri-la and visiting the city the following day and in the evening going back to LJ. Should it work in your opinion? Thanks again!

Yes, I mean you can spend about one day to the TLG and you can almost finish the gorge in the afternoon. Then you can take a car or local bus for Shangri-la and stay one night in Shangri-al. Then travel around the Shangri-la area for almost one day and back to LJ in the late afternoon.
The bus journey from Shangri-la to LJ takes about three to four hours.
