About:Chinese Consulate in Brisbane

Do I need to show them my passport when applying for a tourist visa?

My new passport won't be ready until 14-01-14, but I will be travelling to Shanghai on 15-01-14. There will not be enough time for application. Can I just give them my application number for my new passport. I have previously obtained a Chinese visa, but it was using my old passport (which has now expired). Can I apply for again when I arrive in Shanghai instead? Thank you.

The passport is a must for the applications. Not only your new passport but also the old one will be required, I think.

Thanks for your reply Tracy. Fingers crossed I get my passport back earlier. So it's not possible to apply when I arrive in Shanghai am I correct?
