How do I apply for a visitors Visa for China?

I am traveling to China in February, 2014 and want to who to apply to for a L type one. I plan to visit for 2 to 3 weeks.

You should apply from the consulate or embassy in your area. The documents you should prepare for are your passport, completed application form, a recent passport size photo and an invitation letter from a Chinese citizen, foreigner who stay in PRC or any organzation or company. If you can't provide the invitation letter, you should provide round-trip air tickets and hotel booking in PRC.
