Chinese passport issue, help me!

I lost my Chinese passport, I came to know that for the first time visa application since obtaining US passport, I need to provide Chinese passport. I gave a copy of Chinese passport for them to check around 12.10.2013. But It has been almost half a month, nobody has called me about the result of checking. My flight is on 25th, I don't know what to do? How LONG does it take for this kind of checking???

BTW: I renewed my Chinese passport every 5 years, I haven't missed one time renewal, after I got US passport, I didn't renew and because of moving around in the US, I lost my Chinese passport. PLEASE HELP!!!

You should provide copies of your old passport and previous Chinese visas. I think you should contact the embassy or consulate immediately and see if there is a problem. The normal processing days is four working days.

Thank you for the reply. I provided all the necessary documentation, but officers in SF said they need to check me in China. I am not sure what kind of check it is. They haven't not given me any reply yet since I submitted my application on Dec 10.
