About:China Visa Application Procedure and Fee

Do I need to provide proof of travel e.g evidence of paid air tickets before applying for the visa?

Which type are you going to apply, a L type? If so, you should provide round-trip air tickets and hotel bookings in PRC. All these documents are not required if you have an invitation letter.
