how did they get the men to work on the great wall in the han dynasty

They recuite workers to build the Great Wall. When there were no enough works, they forced prisoners and farmers to construct that as well. People had to shoulder or carry heavy stones and bricks onto the ridges to build that. It was very tiring, and many people died from that.1
