About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Outbound flight stopover in Shanghai

Hi there,

I am planning on flying into Beijing from Seoul and applying for the 72 hour visa upon my arrival. Following that, I will be leaving to go to Hong Kong. However, the itinerary of my plane tickets indicate that I have a couple hours of stopover in the Shanghai Airport before continuing to Hong Kong. If I don't leave the airport, does this stopover respect the rules of the 72 hour free transit? My final destination is Hong Kong.

Thanks in advance

I am afraid not. Because the 72 hour permit is only issued to passengers who transit directly via Beijing. If you will transit through two airports, you have to apply for a Chinese transit G in advance.
