Visa for transit between NZ and Europe

I hold a British passport, travelling from my home in New Zealand to Europe and back in April/May 2014, stopping over at Guangzhou for 17 hours each way. Am I entitled to 72 hour free transit? If so do I need to apply for it in NZ and is there a cost involved?

Hi, you can use 72 h free transit both ways. And you just need to inform the carrier airline staff about this free transit request before you board the plane. The free transit permit can be issued upon arrival at Guangzhou Airport. This transit permit is free of charge.
