About:Nightlife in Guangzhou

I have a 16hr layover at guangzhou airport...is it worth venturing into the city?

ie how far from the airport and any recommendations of where to visit at night as it will be a 5pm arrival......?

It is suggested to go.
You can take the airport shuttle bus line 5 to Haizhu Square in about one hour and a half and the walk to the Tianzi Dock to take the cruise to enjoy the night scenery of the Pearl River. It is wonderful.
After that you can walk to the Beijing Road to have a visit.
After I think you may stay overnight near the railway station and then go to the airport the next morning.
