About:China Private Visit Visa

I'm a student here in China, my wife was given S2 visa in London

Hi,
my wife was given S2 visa in London even though we mentioned that we needed a S1 so that she could take up the residence, I would like to know that will she still be able to apply for a residence permit which exceeds 6month period on a S2.
Kind Regards.

S2 holders need not to get residence permit. Please read her S2 carefully, because it can be multiple entries with certain period of stay each entry.
