Passport expiry date

My Canadian passport is due to expire in early May 2014 and I'd like to travel to China during the 22th weekend of this month. I was granted a visa - should I expect any problems getting in?

What do you mean "I was granted with one"? Did you get one before or you already applied for another one for your trip? According to the embassy, the applicant's passport must be valid at least six months. Yours is above six months if you count it from now. So you can use it to apply. If you are still worried, you can renew it first and then apply for it.
