Do I need to renew my passport (expiry Oct 1st) for a visit this June?

My UK passport expires October 1st. I've been invited to the Shanghai film festival this June for ten days. Do I need to renew my passport before requesting a visa?

Yes, you need to ensure that your passport has at least 6 months' validity when entering China.
